Laura Kalick has over 35 years of experience in both private and government practice, including the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) National Office, the United States Senate, large accounting firms, and practicing law. Laura has advised a diverse group of complex exempt organizations including hospitals and healthcare organizations, colleges and universities, charities, foundations, trade associations, and social welfare organizations.
Laura’s expertise covers private inurement and benefit, intermediate sanctions, unrelated business income and allocation of expenses, taxable subsidiaries, private use of tax-exempt bonds, charitable contributions, joint ventures, royalty, affinity and sponsorship agreements, debt-financed income, lobbying and political activity, and compensation arrangements. Jeff Schragg counsels clients on highly complex tax and business matters for over 28 years. He provides clients a broad and deep knowledge of all areas of state, federal and international taxation. Jeff has coordinated services for individual, nonprofit and business clients, including tax-exempt organizations, real estate partnerships, publishing companies and government contractors. He has coordinated several voluntary compliance projects for tax-exempt organizations with regard to sales tax, unrelated business income and other unreported taxes.
He brings a results-driven approach to closely held businesses and high net-worth individuals. Jeff advises clients in all phases of growth from inception to funding growth to exit strategies via sale or going public. He has extensive mergers and acquisitions experience. Jeff brings sophisticated tax planning and advice to Fortune 500 companies, S corporations, trade associations and charities.
Jeff is a frequent speaker on technical tax issues. He is a repeat speaker at the AICPA annual not-for-profit conference. Jeff developed and led the “Finance for Board Members” for the Greater DC Cares Board Leadership Program. He has also served as an instructor for the DC Bar CLE teaching “Basics of Forming a Business Entity.” Recently, Jeff was recognized as a 2008 and 2011 SmartCPA by SmartCEO magazine.
