Our speaker will be Gregory D. Vaughn, Rapid Response Coordinator for Northern Virginia Community College's Rapid Response Program.
Additionally, Bruce Blechl, VP of Operations and a 2nd Lt with the Fairfax County Police Department, will present information about the upcoming World Police and Fire Games. The breakfast will also feature a brief presentation from our Retailer Focus, McLean Pharmacy and our Restaurant Focus, J. Gilbert's.
About Gregory Vaughn:
Gregory Vaughn is one of four Regional Rapid Response Coordinators, servicing the Northern to Central Region of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Vaughn has managed the largest geographical Rapid Response territory since 2004. His region spans from the Washington, DC Metro area which borders Fredericksburg, VA, down through central VA through Staunton, VA.
Mr. Vaughn has designed, trained and developed programs to support all Dislocated Workers and Employers affected by job loss or closure within the Northern Region.
In 2014, Mr. Vaughn has coordinated services for 23 Companies and over 5,159 affected employees. His most recent Rapid Response activity included the closing of 3 Virginia Department of Corrections facilities in Culpeper, White Post and Greenville, VA affecting 215 employees.
About Rapid Response:
When the Virginia Dislocated Worker Unit (DWU) receives notices of plant closures and mass layoffs in the Northern region, including those covered under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, it notifies the Northern regional office so it can respond with on-site services to assist workers facing job losses. Rapid Response services are available for layoffs that involve 25 or more workers. For layoffs for less than 25 individuals, WIA services are provided their local one-stop programs.

Local services in your community Workforce Centers include use of computers, telephones, fax machines and group workshops. Additional support may be available if your job was lost to foreign trade (Trade Act Program). Services are available for veterans and adults with disabilities.
