Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center invites public to awards benefit
(September 17, 2012 -- Falls Church, VA) The Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, an award-winning preschool that has served children and families at all levels of the economic spectrum since 1968, invites the public to “Building Blocks: Giving Children a Strong Foundation” on Thursday, November 8, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Westwood Country Club in Vienna. The event will honor Elizabeth Page, Center Executive Director who is retiring after 11 outstanding years, and many Center supporters including elected representatives, faith groups, community organizations, and corporations that have supported the Center to make it accessible to area low-income families.
The event will include a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and awards. Special activities, including a building block competition, will raise funds to establish the Elizabeth Page Scholarship Fund for At-Risk Children. Sponsorships are available by calling (703) 534-4907. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 15 and are available at http://fcmlcc.org. CBS-WNEW radio anchor Jenny Glick will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.
Proceeds will help keep the preschool accessible to low-income families and their at-risk children in order to prepare them to be ready to learn when they start kindergarten.
Honorees at the event will include: elected officials Virginia Senator Janet Howell, Virginia Delegate Jim Scott, Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust; faith groups Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, and St. John’s Episcopal Church, all in McLean; foundations O’Shaughnessy-Hurst Memorial Foundation, McLean Community Foundation, Devotion to Children, and Civitan Club of Tyson’s Corner; and corporations PNC Bank, Cox Charities, and MorganFranklin.
