National Preparedness Month Program

The MCA and the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a September National Preparedness Month Program scheduled for Wednesday September 23rd 7pm in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean VA 22101, Community Rooms A, B, and C.

The purpose for the program is to showcase the Fairfax County Community Resilience Program efforts in reaching out to Citizens; HOAs; CAs; PTAs; Non-Profits; Faith groups; Community Based Organizations, and Businesses, as community partners that are relied on for day-to-day services, in times of disasters. 

The 4 panel topics will discuss: 

• The Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) welcomes the whole community: businesses, families, organizations, houses of worship and more to learn the principles of emergency preparedness, including how to make an emergency kit, develop an emergency plan and stay informed during emergencies.
• Businesses, organizations and families will learn tips and tools for developing their own emergency plans and how to be ready to assist with countywide recovery after disasters.

• The Community Resiliency Groups (CRG) and what Community Based Organizations are part of it, and how this will benefit the community in times of disasters
• How Volunteer Fairfax will interact with the CRG in times of disasters

The program panel topics have been developed in collaboration with the Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and Volunteer Fairfax.  This will be the third consecutive National Preparedness Month Program planned and produced by the MCA.
